February 23, 2009/Monday
The first Red Sox game of 2009 is in two days. On Wednesday, February 25, the Sox will travel a few miles away from their stadium in Fort Myers, in order to play a game against the Minnesota Twins. I'm not sure who the starting pitchers are at this point, but this is the first game in a season that promises to hold an intense set of ballgames.
Now it's time for the daily See-What-The-Yankees-Are-Doing-And-Criticize-Them Segment. According to the front article at MLB.com, Bryan Hoch reports that:
The Yankees manager called off a team
workout and organized a field trip to a
local billiards hall Monday, part of an
exercise to help his club build relationships.
Of course after Joe Torre, known as Clueless Joe by the New York media, publishes a book which focuses upon how the Yankees do not have very good clubhouse chemistry, the other Joe, Joe the Plummer (Girardi), tries to create team bonding exercises. It sounds like middle school athletics all over again. Imagine the sight of A-Rod getting roasted by the fans at the billiards hall, as CC Sabathia hides as he gets more fries and tacos.
That's pretty much the scoop of baseball today, but now we can look back to my Oscar predictions. I got 3 of 5 correct. Not bad. I just hope that my fantasy can fare better than this.

Actually - the Billiards afternoon was probably a good thing. In the corporate world get togethers like this are really good for team building and the moral of the organization. I believe if you check out browniepoints.mlblogs.com - the Blog of Ian Browne, the Red Sox beat writer (a must read, you should check it several times a day) - he has the starting rotation for the first few pre-season games listed.
